Recording a purchase

You record a purchase from the catalogue: open the article and choose Add purchase. A window opens with three blocks: What, Where and Price. Only the purchase date and quantity are required; fill in the rest as far as you know.

What

  • Quantity – 1 to 100. For more than one, the site creates a separate item for each piece with its own purchase number, so you can sell them separately later.
  • Condition – New in box, New, Like new, Good, Used or Defective.
  • Serial number – only when you enter one piece at a time.
  • Own reference – for example a number from your own records or the compartment in your cabinet.

Where

  • Purchase source – choose from the list or add one with + New source.
  • Seller – optional. A seller belongs to one source; if you choose a seller, the matching source is used.

Price

  • Purchase date – required.
  • Price per piece (€) – what you paid, per piece. For a set this is the price paid for the whole set. If you leave it empty, the item counts as €0.
  • Warranty until – preset to one year from today; change the date to the warranty you really have.
  • Finishing work – did you have the item converted, digitised or improved? Enter the value added (what the work was worth) and a description. That amount counts towards what the item cost you in total, and returns in profit and loss when you sell it.

Is it on your wish list?

If the article is on your wish list, you see a tick box Lower the wish by the number of pieces bought. Leave it on if this purchase fulfils the wish; the wish is lowered, and disappears when it reaches zero. See Wish list.

Buying a set

A set (a package with several items) is recorded as one purchase. The parts are kept as separate items with derived numbers; the price counts once, with the set. If you take the set apart later, for example because it is incomplete, see Sets.

After saving

You see the message Purchase recorded, number …. The item is in your Collection. There you can still change everything with Edit, and add photos.
