Changing or completing an article
The catalogue belongs to everyone and is improved by its members, like a wiki. That is why you can propose a change on every article. A change is always kept in the history, with who made it and when; nothing gets lost.
Who may change?
- You need an active licence; the trial counts as a full licence. See Account and licence. If you do not have that right, you do not see the Propose a change button.
- A normal contribution is first reviewed by a moderator and only then becomes visible to everyone. The top of the window says which situation applies to you.
- Trusted contributors, moderators and administrators publish directly.
Step by step
- Open the article and choose Propose a change. A window opens with all fields.
- Change what is not right. You only need to change the fields you have something to say about; the rest stays as it was.
- At the bottom fill in Source / explanation: where did you get it? For example "catalogue 2019, p. 47" or "the box of the model". This helps the moderator a lot.
- Choose Submit for review (or Publish if you may publish directly).
What can you change?
- Description, remark, specific and inscription – each in Dutch, English and German. If you miss a language, fill in only the languages you know; the rest can be translated later.
- Company number, year, year from/to, length (mm) and number in package.
- Technical features, such as coupling, lighting, current pick-up and circuit, and the code and inscription format where they belong to the article.
- The photos and the exploded view (see below).
- Clearing a field is also a change.
What you cannot change on an existing article: the article number, the variant, the category and the series. Those decide which article it is. If one of them is wrong, request a new article (see Requesting an article) and say in the explanation which article it should replace.
Photos
- Upload a JPEG, PNG or HEIC (iPhone). The photo is checked, reduced to at most 1600 pixels and stored without location data.
- The silhouette is the photo of the side of the model. It is always shown first.
- You can add several extra photos at once. Untick a photo to remove it.
- Only use photos you may share: they go into the shared catalogue once approved. For your own photos of an item, see Own photos.
Exploded view
You upload an exploded drawing as PDF, JPG or PNG (at most 15 MB). PDFs with scripts or embedded files are refused for safety. Choose Replace exploded view or remove to change an existing one.
Adding a price
Choose Add price and fill in the year and the advised price (€) from the catalogue or price list, with the source. If a price already exists for that year, your entry counts as a correction.
What happens next?
Under Catalogue → My contributions you see your proposals with the status Waiting for review, Approved or Rejected (with the reason). A moderator sees old and new side by side. If the same field was changed by someone else in the meantime, the system says so and the moderator decides what applies.
Tip: keep a contribution small and about one subject at a time (for example only the description, or only the price). It will be approved faster.
